Recycling batteries

Small electricals

One of the biggest problems we all have is recycling batteries. Please do not put batteries or small electrical items such as vapes, hairdryers, or toasters in any of your kerbside wheelie bins.

For batteries, you can leave them in a plastic bag on top of your waste or recycling bin, and if there is room on the bin lorry, they will take them. These go back to the MSDC depot for storage and recycling. This is a service you pay for as part of your council tax.
Or you can take batteries back to any shop that sells batteries, such as supermarkets, Robert Dyas, or any pound shop. By law, they have to provide a collection point for batteries.

For small electrical items (e-waste), you can also leave them in a plastic bag on top of your waste or recycling bin. These go back to the Recycling Centre in Burgess Hill for storage and recycling. Alternatively, you can take them to the Recycling Centre yourselves.
